Calvary Moravian Church

Come in Faith, Go with Peace, Live God's Love

Christian Education at Calvary Moravian Church

If, in each hour, a man could learn a single fragment of some branch of knowledge, a single rule of some mechanical art, a single pleasing story or proverb (the acquisition of which would require no effort), what a vast stock of learning he might lay by. Seneca is therefore right when he says: "Life is long, if we know how to use it." It is consequently of importance that we understand the art of making the very best use of our lives. – John Amos Comenius (1512-1671) Moravian Bishop and Education Reformer

Join us to grow and learn through Sunday School, Bible studies, special discussion group offerings, retreats and other opportunities. You are never too old or too young to learn!

Sunday School for all Ages

Starting in September at 9:30 a.m.

Calvary Moravian provides a Sunday morning Christian Education program for Preschool through Adult from 9:30 to 10:30 (excluding the first Sunday of each month). All are welcome! Our classes meet from September through mid-June. Please know that you are always welcome!

The goal of this program is to provide classes and fellowship activities that enable participants to better understand Jesus' teachings and other stories in the Bible.

Our Primary class is for 4 year old - 2nd graders and Upper Elementary class for 3rd - 6th graders. Storytelling, play acting, games and crafts are provided to reinforce the lessons. During this time, children are able to discuss situations and events that exist in their own life that reflect situations and events in the Bible. A Take-Home storybook containing the Bible story is given to each child so families can share the lesson and discuss its implication in their daily life.

We are using Deep Blue curriculum; more information is available at www.deepbluekids.com, or talking with our pastor or Sunday School teachers.

Sunday School Kids

During the same time period, Pastor Janel will meet with confirmation class students and other interested high schoolers. Our confirmation class will begin next September 2016 for all 7th and 8th graders or other interested young people.

You are never too old to learn something new!! We have an adult Bible Study group that also meets at 9:30 AM on Sunday. This year the participants are led by Jessica Tatum in experiencing Spiritual renewal through a number of different contemplative tradition.

Calvary Moravian also provides a Friday morning Bible Study and Prayer experience each week at 9:30. You are invited to attend…even on an occasional basis.

During Sunday worship, arts and crafts materials, videos and toys are available for your child in the first classroom if they need to leave the worship service. Or they can take some materials into the sanctuary with them!
