Welcome and Announcements
Call To Worship – Psalm 100.
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with singing.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he that made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name.
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures for ever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
Hymn Steadfast Love of the Lord
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
God’s mercies never come to an end.
They are new every morning, new every morning;
great is your faithfulness, O Lord, great is your faithfulness.
Liturgy for recognizing the Celebration and Recognition of Ordained Ministers.
We are God’s people, and we have gathered to worship the One Who has not only created us, but has cared for us in the deepest ways possible, and has loved us beyond the boundaries of our imaginations. As God’s people, let us offer God our most sincere praises.
Allelulah! We thank You for the goodness with which You blanket us, and the kindness with which You embrace us.
God’s love comes to us in many different ways: through the Scriptures; in quiet moments; via dreams and signs. And one way that God’s reassuring presence is often manifested is through ordinary, yet special, human beings.
We seek to know You well. Through the compassion of brothers and sisters in the faith, we come closer to You.
All believers are summoned to love one another and to be Christlike in actions and attitudes. But in addition to calling all Christians to service. God also calls some members of the body into recognized ministries. As it is written, “(Christ) gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers.” (Ephesians 4:11) As God’s people, it is right to recognize the faithful women and men who honor Jesus Christ by answering His call to ordained ministry.
Though You are our ultimate caretaker, we thank You for pastors who do Your work in Your name. Help us to catch a glimpse of You in them. And help them always to be Your excellent representatives.
Tune: 350, Hamburg (When I Survey the Wondrous Cross)
Pour out Thy spirit from high; Lord, Thine ordained servants bless;
Graces and gifts to each supply, And clothe them with Thy righteousness.
Wisdom, and zeal, and faith impart, Firmness, with meekness from above.
To bear Thy people on their heart, And love the souls whom Thou dost love.
As a congregation, and in the continuing presence of God, let us also recognize the commitment of one particular pastor. Today we commemorate the ministry of our pastor, JANEL RICE. It is through her preaching, teaching, serving and administering that we have often seen Christ at work.
In celebration and affirmation of her service to You, to the Church, and to this congregation, we ask Your blessing upon our pastor.
Together we pray:
Holy Lord, You have called Your servant to a great task, which at times seems an impossibility. We celebrate our pastor’s presence among us, acknowledge her devotion to Your service, seek to understand her struggles, and offer her a generous measure of encouragement. Help her to carry out each facet of ministry with sincerity and boldness, and keep her ever inspired by Your Holy Spirit.
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, Who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage her heart, and strengthen her in every good deed and work. – (II Thessalonians 2:16-17)
Tune 447, Covenant
With your presence, Lord, our Head and Savior,
Bless her now, we humbly pray;
Our dear heavenly Father’s love and favor
Be her comfort every day;
May God’s spirit new in each proceeding
Favor her with His most gracious leading;
Thus shall she be truly blessed
Both in labor and in rest. Amen
