Calvary Moravian is a multi-generational faith community that respects and welcomes diversity of all kinds, whether that be theological, political, ideological, and beyond. Respect for this breadth of diversity is represented through one of our main guiding principles: In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty, and In All Things Love. Here are some of the core beliefs that shape our life here at Calvary:

We believe in the one only God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who created all things by Jesus Christ, and was in Christ, reconciling the world to Godself.

Here at Calvary we celebrate two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion.

The Moravian Church has always looked to the Bible as the guide for our lives. The Bible has been translated into many languages so all people can read about God’s love. It is not the literal words that are most important; it is the meaning of the stories in the Bible that lead us to the essentials.

God created humanity in God’s own image to glorify and enjoy God forever. As we affirm God to be our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer, it is humanity’s role to respond to God and each other with faith, hope, and love.

We recognize sin not to be simply a list of immoral acts, but to be a deeper issue. Sin affects individuals and resides in broad societal systems. However, we believe sin is not stronger or greater than God’s love and affirm that while we were still sinners, we have been redeemed through Jesus.

In a world that can always use more peace, love, and hope, we believe the Church can be a solution as we remain committed to the Great Commandment to love God and our neighbors and to the Great Commission, to go into our world and share the Good News of God’s unconditional, transforming love.

Calvary is an open and affirming congregation. As a church in the Moravian Church Northern Province, we believe no matter who you are or how you identify, you are embraced and affirmed by God’s expansive love.

We affirm there is no distinction between those who are one in Jesus, and we are opposed to any discrimination based on color, gender, race, creed, or land of origin. We also know the church has not always lived up to this belief and so we remain committed to pursuing justice and peace with love for all.

As a congregation in the Moravian Church Northern Province, Calvary believes Christian nationalism is a distortion of the gospel of Jesus Christ and is part of the Christians Against Christian Nationalism organization.

From the beginning, God has entrusted humans with responsibility to care for the creation. We deem it a sacred responsibility and genuine opportunity to be faithful stewards of all God has entrusted to us: our time, our talents, and our financial resources. We view all of life as a sacred trust to be used wisely.
