The Ministries of Calvary Moravian Church

Here at Calvary we have inward focused and outward focused ministries that are open to all!

Community Outreach Ministries

Soup Kitchen Crew Ministry

Jesus spoke to the importance of caring for the felt needs of those in our communities when he invited us to remember that when we are serving those on the margins, we are serving Christ (Matthew 25:35-40). As an effort to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our neighbors we partner with the Lehigh Conference of Churches Soup Kitchen twice a month to serve lunch. If you would like to learn about this ministry or join one of our teams, please contact our church office so we can get you plugged in!

Refugee Care Ministry

Scripture invites us over and over again to care for the foreigner and immigrants among us (Deuteronomy 10:19; Leviticus 19:34; Jeremiah 7:5-7; Matthew 25:35; Hebrews 13:1-3). Calvary Moravian partners with local refugee resettlement groups and ministries in Allentown to help welcome our new neighbors and assist them as they get on their feet. If you would like to join this ministry or learn more, please contact our church office.

Reading Room Ministry

The greater Moravian Church has had a long history of caring about education and literacy for children, and so in the spirit of our fore-parents in the faith, Calvary has a reading room that collects books for children and teenagers that we then give away for free! Our reading room is open on select days and we take it on the road to local Allentown Festivals! For more information, please contact our church office.

Fellowship Groups

Moravian Women’s Group

All women of any age, live stage, and background are welcome to join us for our monthly Moravian Women’s gathering! Right now we meet the first Wednesday of each month at 1pm. If you would like to learn more or speak with our leadership about this group, contact our church office.

Dining with Friends

Join us on the fourth Tuesday of each month out in the community for an evening of fellowship and a great meal at a local Allentown restaurant! Location is subject to change, please contact our church office to learn where we are headed this month!

Bible Study Groups

Midweek Bible Study

All are welcome to join us Thursdays at 10AM. We are presently meeting on ZOOM but will resume in person gathering on April 3rd. If you would like to learn more about the Moravian approach to reading and interpreting the bible, you can click here for our guiding principles.

Adult Sunday School

Our adult Sunday School class gathers almost every Sunday following our worship service at 11am. We continue our reflection on the Lectionary scriptures selected for that Sunday and welcome all to join us as we discuss how these scriptures may inform and impact our lives today. This group is led by our current vice chair of elders, Jeff Diehl.
